Event News Mamidakis Foundation Backs 335 Crete Students on ‘Green’ Mission by GTP editing team 10 November 2016 written by GTP editing team 10 November 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 7 Some 335 third and fourth grade students from Agios Nikolaos, Crete, became “Planet Agents” ready for their special mission… to protect the environment and raise awareness among their peers. With the support of the G & A Mamidakis Foundation and their teachers, the pupils chose agent names and took action through play. Planet Agents organizes learning programs, publishing initiatives and interactive shows with the aim of getting children aged 5-12 excited and active about environmental issues. Through a series of educational activities, the students learn about the impact of waste on the environment and as Planet Agents how to actively participate in stopping such damaging practices, becoming in the meantime powerful advocates – at home, at school and in their wider community – of a friendlier and greener planet. “An attitude shift on environmental issues is of major importance. We are extremely proud of the educational program’s results and of the overwhelming response from the students and the teachers of Agios Nikolaos, concerning the waste problem treatment. This makes us feel very optimistic about the future of our country and of our planet,” Gina Mamidakis, G & A Mamidakis Foundation president, said of the initiative.
