The Authentic” to take place on November 13 in the Greek capital. “With the ever more impressive ERGO Marathon Expo the four-day events of the authentic marathon of Athens begin”, SEGAS President Kostas Panagopoulos said during the press conference that followed the expo’s inauguration. The expo is taking place at the TaeKwonDo Indoor Hall & Exhibition Center at Palio Faliro until Saturday, November 12 and will lead to the actual “Athens Marathon. Τhe Authentic” event on Sunday, November 13. “This is a race that is not only one of the largest in the world, but is a sports celebration, as the center of Athens will be flooded by thousands of smiles”, he said. The 34th “Athens Marathon. The Authentic”, which marks 120 years from the first contemporary Marathon race, is expected to attract more than 50,000 runners to participate in all races of the annual sporting event. Some 7,500 runners are from 105 countries. The 34th “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” includes the original 42,195-meter Marathon Race (from the Municipality of Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium), 10km run, 5km morning race and 5km evening run. Kostas Gelaouzos Rania Rebouli Due to the marathon’s 120th birthday, SEGAS is organizing a number of additional small events at the Panathenaic Stadium on Sunday to commemorate the anniversary, the atheletes that made history in the sport and the champions that represented Greece in the Rio Olympics, such as Rania Rebouli and Kostas Gelaouzos. “I would like to ask all Athenians to accept our invitation and Sunday to stand along the course to support the athletes and to gather at the Panathenaic Stadium“, Panagopoulos said. On his part, Marathon Mayor Ilias Psinakis said that he is proud since every year the Athens marathon becomes more important. “I am very happy for the side events taking place because this advertises our country”, adding that this year many delegations from China will be in Athens during the event. ERGO Marathon Expo 2016 The ERGO Marathon Expo 2016 will feature some 150 leading companies from the areas of sports, fitness, health, nutrition and tourism. Exhibitors include Greek regions. The marathon expo is the annual gathering of the international running community, where visitors will see products and services for runners, exclusive offers of sport brands, special packages and offers from travel agencies and hotels, technology products and fitness equipment. Entrance to the expo is free of charge.
