Destinations news Thessaloniki Wins Over Brits at WTM London 2016 by GTP editing team 15 November 2016 written by GTP editing team 15 November 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 22 All the more British tourists are seeking to visit Thessaloniki for its “city break” offerings including cultural, nightlife and culinary options, the Thessaloniki Hotels Association (THA) said upon its return from the World Travel Market (WTM) held in London last week. The THA, which was present in London with a stand of its own under the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) umbrella, promoted Thessaloniki as an ideal city break destination but also a great starting point for shorter getaways in the region, which includes a wide variety of alternatives for nature and sports lovers as well as 15 UNESCO World Heritage sites. Following a number of B2B meetings with hosted buyers and presentations to travel agents, tour operators and international media, the THA expressed optimism of increased tourism numbers for 2017. As part of the THA’s ongoing promotional strategy, it has planned a series of fam and press trips for tourism professionals as well as a new collaboration with UK budget airline JET2.com for direct flights to Macedonia Airport next year.
