Awards Greek Team ‘Skyros 2016’ Honored for Climate Change Video in Global Competition by GTP editing team 22 November 2016 written by GTP editing team 22 November 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 11 Greek team Skyros 2016 won the People’s Choice Award in the Film4Climate Global Video Competition and was honored at an official awards event at the COP 22* climate summit in Marrakech, Morocco, on November 13. The Film4Climate Global Video Competition invited aspiring young filmmakers from around the world to express their vision for a sustainable future by creating a short film or video about climate action. Skyros 2016’s video “Can We?” was the most popular video as determined by likes through the video gallery on the Film4Climate website. “Can We?”was the most popular video among 860 entries from 153 countries. The Skyros 2016 team is made up from Greek university students and was created through the cooperation of the Skyros Port Authority and the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean, headed by Proffesor Konstantina Skanavi of the Environmental Education and Communication Laboratory. The Film4Climate Global Video Competition was organized by the United Nations Climate Change secretariat, the UNDP GEF-Small Grants Programme, the Connect4Climate Program, the United Nations Joint Framework Initiative on Children, Youth, and Climate Change, the UNFCCC constituency of youth non-governmental organizations (YOUNGO) and Television for the Environment (tve). Its jury of leading filmmakers and experts, led by Bernardo Bertolucci, includes former President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed, Lawrence Bender, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Robert Stone, Mika Kaurismaki, Pablo Trapero, Martin Katz, Ann Hornaday, Carole Tomko, Maria Wilhelm, Pat Mitchell, Rose Kuo, and Mark Lynas. * 22nd Session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22) Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
