The legendary Makedonia Palace hotel shared the story behind its mega renovation project, right from its exhibition stand at the 32nd Philoxenia international tourism fair held November 18-20 in Thessaloniki.

mp_philoxenia_1aThe hotel’s stand was among Philoxenia’s most talked about this year due to its design, which had many common features with its “Remake Project”, the project under which the Makedonia Palace is undergoing complete renovation works.

Thessaloniki’s emblematic hotel exhibited at Philoxenia aiming to promote its new “face” in mainly international markets and looking to boost its communication with international travelers to increase its market share.

The stand also included a special B2Β meeting point, where over 35 meetings with Hosted Buyers took place.

During these meetings, Makedonia Palace executives welcomed tourism professionals and informed them on the developments of the 12.4 million euro renovation and the new offered services following the project’s completion.

Under the “Remake” program, the eight-storey unit – Thessaloniki’s first luxury hotel which opened its doors in 1972 – is undergoing complete renovation works that includes everything from a new spa and fully equipped conference center to a 900m2 ballroom and modernized rooms, making it one of the largest ever makeover projects in Greece.

The mega-investment aims to bring back the elegance of the hotel that marked Thessaloniki history and has grown to become a landmark for the city.
