Destinations news Hellenikon Project: Casino Resort with Skyscraper First to Go Up? by GTP editing team 5 December 2016 written by GTP editing team 5 December 2016 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 15 The first building to be constructed as part of an eight-billion-euro project to develop Hellenikon, Athens’ former airport – set to boost Greek tourism by one million tourists a year and employ some 70,000 people – will be a casino resort on the Agios Cosmas marina along the Athenian Riviera, according to Greek daily Kathimerini. Local media report that the multipurpose venue will include a 40-45 storey skyscraper that will also ‘’host’’ theaters, nightclubs, cinemas, shops and restaurants. Second in line will be a construction on the southeastern side of the massive Hellenikon property. Property managers Lamda Development and Hellinikon Global I have decided to begin with the aforementioned projects which will include hotel facilities in order to bring in immediate revenues. In the meantime, much will depend on whether the casino gets government approval and relevant licensing. The Glyfada complex set to become a multi-purpose hub complete with metropolitan park, shops, offices, sports and conference facilities, luxury hotels, theme parks, museums, malls, cultural venues, health centers, educational and research facilities and marina, was given the green light by majority vote in Greek parliament in September.
