Organized by the Greece – China Association for Investment and Cooperation, the event marks the official launch of the Greek-Chinese Union for the Promotion of Investment & Partnerships — an initiative of Greek and Chinese entrepreneurs as well as individuals active in culture, education and finance. The union was set up following Hong Kong-based shipping giant Cosco’s move into Greece with the majority stake purchase of Piraeus port and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ visit to China earlier this year. Speakers to address the event include Alternate Interior Minister Maria Kollia-Tsaroucha, Central Macedonia Region Governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris and the Northern Greece Exporters’ Association president Kyriakos Loufakis as well as representatives of major Chinese bodies.
