Travelers to Greece are giving the country thumbs up in terms of overall tourism experience and quality, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) said this week.

According to GNTO data following a survey conducted by QED Market Research, nine in 10 visitors to Greece rated their experience of the country as “very good” or “excellent”, six in 10 said they were very likely to recommend the country as a destination and more than half expressed their desire to come back.

Travelers visiting Greece by plane stayed on average for 8.2 days, while road tourists for less than three days.

Sea, sun and Greek cuisine were the main reason for visiting the country according to six in 10 travelers, while five in 10 said it was the hospitality, natural beauty and feeling of relaxation.

As key recommendations, the majority said there was room for improvement particularly with regard to museums and major tourism sites as well as in terms of infrastructure, cleanliness and road networks.

The survey was carried out through interviews at 13 country entrance points on October 12-24 on a sample of 2.179 incoming travelers.
