If there ever was a time to let your kids run loose then Christmas is it and towns and cities across Greece are offering parents the chance to do just that. Theme parks offering games, workshops, activities and much more family fun have opened their doors and are to offer the best entertainment for the season. Athens’ Christmas Factory is back at Technopolis complete with Santa’s home, elf headquarters, sweet shop and ferris wheel. Admission is at 5.50 euros or get two tickets for the price of one from Monday to Friday. (For more holiday events in Athens, press here.) Santa Claus Kingdom, MEC exhibition center, Peania. On the outskirts of Athens, Santa Claus Kingdom running at the MEC exhibition center in Peania is an ice-skater’s paradise offering fun on ice plus rides in the Christmas Express. Entrance fee at 8 euros. In Thessaloniki, meanwhile, the annual Asterocosmos (StarWorld) is back with everything from amusement park activities and ice-skating to interactive games and workshops in “elf village”, concerts, theater performances, shadow puppet theater, sets with Dj Santa and flash mob action. Get your tickets for 7 euros per person. Another favourite winter destination, Ioannina in Epirus, brings the Asteroupoli Christmas Village complete with open air ice rink, carousel and roller coaster rides, an air-balloon ready for take-off, a Christmas market, a chocolate factory and museum among the Christmas delights on offer. Admission is free. Charges for rides. Elves Mill, Trikala. The central Greek town of Trikala features the Elves Mill where naughty pirates are causing mayhem. Don’t forget to try some sweets at the Chocolate Fountain. Entrance is free. Meanwhile, Santa will also be visiting the northern Greece towns of Drama and Katerini. Oneiroupoli (Dreamland) at the Municipal Park in Drama welcomes visitors young and old with film screenings and astronomy workshops for free.
