Novotel Athenes

Novotel Athens has announced that it is actively supporting two major corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives set by the AccorHotels Group. By accommodating the Group’s commitments in accordance to local specifics and operational realities, the hotel has managed to incorporate the sustainable initiatives into its services and thus redefine the value of hospitality.

Novotel Athens is a supporter to the Group’s sustainable development program “Planet 21 | 2016-2020”, which is structured into four areas of action enlisting its employees, customers, partners and local communities, and to two priorities, namely  “food & beverage” and  “buildings”, allowing each hotel to set its own objectives and map out its own actions plan, with a common baseline of 16 mandatory actions.

Following the fruitful completion of the first program “Planet 21 | 2011-2015”, and in line with the AccorHotels Group’s guidelines, Novotel Athens has achieved significant results in sections such as energy consumption in the workplace, biodiversity, water and child protection initiatives.

Some of these activities include donations of supplies and material to cover sleeping and resting needs, meals provision on a regular basis, active participation in soup kitchens, providing academic institutions with spaces and human resources for educational reasons, partnerships with NGOs, preparing meals with ingredients from the hotel’s herb garden, etc. As a result, Novotel Athens was upgraded to the Planet 21 “Gold status” level, stating its determination to achieve excellent results both in customer satisfaction and in business and social performance.

Novotel Athens also supported the AccorHotels Group “Solidarity Week 2016” program and during the second week of December 2016, promoted solidarity through a series of actions. In particular, meals were prepared served at soup kitchens in cooperation with the Equal Society organization, equipment was offered to Emfasis Foundation to assist their campaign “Merry Streetmast III” for homeless and poor families, and, finally, donation of linens and pillows to Hospice for Disabled to meet their hosted patients’ needs.
