Praising its Chef Panagiotis Giakalis and his culinary creations, CNN’s food and travel writer Chris Dwyer underlines that dishes are prepared “with the freshest produce from the property’s farm” and then crafted “into a choice of gourmet degustation menus that set a new standard for contemporary Greek cuisine”. CNN included The Patio among 18 other ‘counterparts’ serving the finest culinary surprises in “some of the world’s hottest new restaurants for 2017” adding that “global gourmets will be digging out their airline schedules to get to these must-try tables”. Other restaurants selected are: London’s Jinjuu Mayfair for its Korean fare; Glasgow’s The Spanish Butcher for top-quality Spanish meats; Avecita in the Grand Cayman for tapas and charred octopus; IGNIV at St Moritz for Swiss chef Andreas Caminada and his three Michelin stars; Mexico’s Cocina de Autor in Grand Velas Los Cabos for the “outspoken flavors that pop”, Stockholm’s Hilma for trout sashimi with brown butter and more; 12,000 Francs in Hong Kong for Japanese bonito fish as well as pastrami; Bangkok’s Attitude for tiny plates of crispy pork skin with crunchy onion, polenta chips and a sweet and sour apple sauce; New York City’s Agern for memorable dishes of Nordic ‘descent’; Grow in Bali for the healthy eating options; Perth’s COMO for its farm-and-forager menu including 12,000 species of wildflower; Kyoto’s Sushi Wakon for traditional edomae-style sushi overlooking an 800-year-old pond garden; La Tête in Cape Town for French bistro nose-to-tail eating; Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara, Dubai beside a floor-to-ceiling aquarium for crispy oysters with caviar, raw scallops and more; Don Alfonso at Helena Bay, New Zealand for Italian specialties with New Zealand influences; White Gold in New York’s Upper West Side ideal for the meat lover and Sushi Ginza Onodera in Los Angeles for the ‘wildest’ of fish.
