On January 7, Air France flew to Corsica and the Mediterranean (flight AF787 at 8:30 am) and Southwest – Gascony (flight AF789 at 1:30 pm). The next day, the airline flew to Brittany (flight AF787 at 8:30 am) and gave a tour of France (flight AF789 at 1:30 pm). The entry of a new aircraft in the Air France fleet was an event that marked the company’s history. For the flights, Air France created a special programme to offer customers and aviation enthusiasts an unforgettable moment. Before boarding, renowned photographer Sacha Goldberger took an exclusive photo shoot* at the foot of the aircraft representing all passengers that took part in the exclusive event as heroes in front of the Dreamliner. Passengers were able to use accessories to personalize their photo. On board, passengers enjoyed the best of Air France inside the latest travel cabins where they were treated to a special meal accompanied by champagne. Also included was an in-flight commentary given by Bernard Chabbert, an expert journalist from the world of aviation. All passengers left with gifts and souvenirs sporting the colours of the Air France Dreamliner. Thanks to in-flight Wi-Fi, many passengers shared their unique experience of the flights live from above the clouds on social media networks. On board the Boeing 787 Equipped with the latest new travel cabins, the Boeing 787 has 30 seats in Business, 21 in Premium Economy and 225 in Economy. For Air France customers, the Boeing 787 has many assets, including the latest Air France cabins – a cocoon in the sky in the Business cabin (30 seats), and comfort for all in the new Premium Economy cabin (21 seats) and in Economy (225 seats); a Wi-Fi connection on board adapted to the requirements and habits of customers (from 20MB to 200MB for a price ranging between 5 and 30 euros); additional comfort and space with the new Premium Economy seats; windows that are approximately 30 percent larger than on similar aircraft; and a lower cabin altitude and enhanced in-flight humidity levels for greater travel comfort. The new-generation aircraft has many operational assets including fuel consumption reduced by about 20 percent compared with previous-generation aircraft, an asset that reduces the effects of a new increase in the price of fuel. The Boeing 787 also offers a significant reduction in CO2 emissions (around 20 percent) and noise emissions. *Photos are from the “#AF787 Heroes” by Sacha Goldeberger & Air France, an exclusive photo shoot taken at Paris Aéroport – Charles de Gaulle (CDG).
