The ministry said the reports, which were spread by local media, are not true. ASTER tourism school, Rhodes. According to the Secretary General of the Greek Tourism Ministry, Evridiki Kourneta, the ministry plans to upgrade both tourism schools of higher education ASTER and ASTEK (Crete) and the eight vocational (IEK) tourism training schools. “Our goal is to enhance the quality of our national tourism product and offered services and we focus on the training of human resources in such an important sector, which contributes decisively to the Greek economy and supports local communities”, she said. Moreover, Kourneta said that the school for tourist guides would reopen and that the ministry is currently working on the final legislation.
