Jointly organized by the South Aegean Region, Aldemar Resorts, and Aegean Airlines with the support of local entrepreneurs, the Sympossio team will this year travel and cook “Greek-style” in Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, France, Israel, Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine and the UK, among others. The 8th Sympossio will run from February 16 until April 7. The aim of the project is to offer participants a taste of genuine Greek cuisine and through these aromas and flavors convey the values, culture, customs and traditions that constitute the Greek identity and are part of Greece’s rich culinary culture. Speaking at a Greek Gastronomy Guide event earlier this week, Alexandros Angelopoulos, vice president of Aldemar Resorts said that the Sympossio Greek Gourmet Touring project is an effective way of bringing in tourism through hands-on experience with Greek cuisine. ‘’We must respect what is given to us. Tourism is just the display, hospitality is the essence and food is that step,’’ he added. The Sympossio project has thus far traveled to 80 cities in 15 countries for over 101 events promoting more 150 Greek products.
