This week we introduce Dr Ioannis Aslanides, Coordinator of RADAR, an innovative, user friendly and completely non-invasive examination for reading problems. When a person reads a line of text, his/her eyes make a sequence of fixations. Fast movements between fixations are called saccades that accurately “guide” the eyes to an information-wise optimal landing point, literally the central part of our retina: the fovea. Foveal vision is a prerequisite for visual detail. R.A.D.A.R. Method (Rapid Assessment of Difficulties & Abnormalities in Reading) can accurately and objectively pinpoint these eye movements and fixations in order to analyze the reading pattern of the individual. Dr. Ioannis Aslanides’ greatest motivation for creating RADAR, the most reliable and personalized, digital tool for detecting dyslexia and reading difficulties, is to help as many children around the world, to normally complete their studies. He and his team after years of research have discovered the way through which the treatment of dyslexia can become perfectly personalized, centered on each child individually. This invention is so important that the greatest universities of the world have opened their doors to Dr. Aslanides and his team.
