The 19 routes and 82 weekly flights are expected to handle 1.5 million customers per year and support more than 1,100 jobs at Thessaloniki Airport. The low-cost Dublin-based airline said it would continue to connect Thessaloniki with major business and leisure centers on high frequency, low fare services including Athens (three daily) and Berlin (daily), with better timings and lower fares. “We are pleased to launch our 2017 Thessaloniki winter schedule… These new routes will go on sale soon as we continue to grow tourism and jobs, underlining our commitment to Greece,’’ Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer Kenny Jacobs said in Thessaloniki. ”We are also pleased to report record bookings on our Thessaloniki summer 2017 schedule and Greek customers can look forward to even lower fares.’’ Jacobs added that due to the instability in Turkey, approximately 40 percent of all holidaymakers are changing plans and opting for Spain, Portugal and Greece. He urged Greek authorities to examine the situation and make the “right” moves in order to secure Greece as the first choice among this portion of travelers.
