Travelife, one of the world’s leading sustainability certification schemes for tourism companies, has appointed Sotiris Milonas as Destination Representative for Greece, as Travelife Membership in the country has seen a 20 percent year-on-year increase.

The increased presence within the Greek market with the appointment of Milonas will help push the certification scheme forward and enable Travelife to analyse destination level issues.

Over 230 hotels in Greece are now working with Travelife to operate their businesses more sustainably. Greece continues to be a core market for Travelife’s tour operators and confirms that sustainability in the Greek hospitality sector is here to stay.

“We are excited to see Travelife continue to grow in Greece and to appoint Sotiris Milonas as our Destination Representative. His technical experience combined with his broad knowledge of the Greek tourism hospitality industry ideally positions him to support our Greek Members and enable future growth”, Sören Stöber, Travelife Commercial Director, said.

Milonas has been a Travelife auditor since 2011, auditing in over 10 countries, and has worked in sustainability for the past 20 years. He is a qualified civil engineer and holds a MBA with a focus on Environmental Management.

“I am delighted to join Travelife as a Destination Representative for Greece”, Milonas said, adding that the Greek tourism industry is increasingly recognising the importance of sustainability.

“Travelife is the ideal certification scheme to help hoteliers manage their sustainability performance and help Greece as a destination to understand its main environmental and social challenges.”
