The number of travelers going through Greek airports in February rose by 5.4 percent at 1.83 million – a 0.2 percent decline in domestic travelers and a 12.6 percent rise in international visitors. Meanwhile, the number of flights touching ground at Greek airports in the first two months of the year came to 38,298 (23,310 domestic flights and 14,988 international flights) down by 0.9 percent: a 3.6 percent decline in domestic flights and 3.5 increase in international flights compared to 2016 at 38,665 flights. The largest passenger traffic was recorded at Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Chania and Rhodes airports with 1,122,420, 357,502, 74,902, 65,434 and 51,910 passengers respectively. According to the data, the Cycladic island airport of Paros recorded the largest passenger traffic increase by 116.99 percent for the months of January and February or 6,044 travelers in 2017 against 2,786 in 2016.
