Tziallas informed Willibrordus Sluijters (European Commission DG REGIO) about Greece’s national tourism policy and priorities for tourism development through the promotion of year-round tourism based on the tourism products of each region individually within the framework of the 13 regional operational programmes (ROP) (one for each of the Greek regions) for 2014-2020 (new NSRF). In a meeting with Iuliana Aluas (European Commission DG GROW), Tziallas referred to the government’s actions towards regulating Airbnb-type rentals through a new legal framework. Last on his agenda was a meeting with Kaspar Richter of the European Commission’s Structural Reform Support Service (SRSS) with whom he discussed the possibility of securing European Commission financing for new projects to run in 2018. Sector projects are already receiving technical support funding from the European Commission for the running year.
