On Saturday, March 25, at 20:30, millions of people around the world will join forces, sending a very strong message against global warming. And this with a simple action: turning off the lights for one hour. Hilton Athens will join hundreds of Hilton properties by switching off the lights, as well as organizing other projects for the guests in demonstration of their commitment to live sustainably and take action by caring for the planet in the year ahead. “Earth Hour” is addressed to every citizen, every business, every community. It started in 2007 in Sydney and each year has a growing impact. This year, we have to act, to reflect on our responsibilities and to actively participate in this initiative. Well-known monuments and buildings around the world will go dark once again. “Hilton Athens is committed to protecting the environment and incorporate environmental practices in its business strategy. The hotel continuously reduces the environmental impact of its activities by implementing practices which are designed to conserve natural resources, minimize waste and save energy,” the management of the Hilton Athens said in an announcement. The “Switch Off” cocktail. “Earth Hour” will be celebrated at Hilton Athens through a variety of activities including a candle light dinner at the Galaxy Restaurant. For this special day, Galaxy Bar has prepared a surprise: Dozens of balloons with LED lighting will spread around the sky of Athens. Each balloon will contain a message in order to spread the importance of this initiative. Also, Galaxy Bar is presenting the “Switch Off” cocktail with gin, anise syrup, celery glove and fresh lime juice, inspired by the bartenders specially for this day. In addition, during Earth Hour, all guests will be encouraged to switch off their room lights too. “Admire Athens from above and gaze at this amazing scenery under the candle light while contributing to our effort,” the management of the Hilton Athens said.
