Company updates Mouzenidis Group Sets Sights on E. Macedonia & Thrace Region by GTP editing team 27 March 2017 written by GTP editing team 27 March 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 6 As part of its ongoing strategy to explore and expand, Mouzenidis Group announced plans to promote and serve new markets starting with the East Macedonia and Thrace region and the upcoming launch of Ellinair flights from Moscow and St Petersburg to the port town of Kavala. The decision came after a series of meetings in Russia during the 24th MITT – Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition held earlier this month where Mouzenidis Group President Boris Mouzenidis met with East Macedonia & Thrace authorities and discussed the tourism potential of the region. Mouzenidis Group participated in MITT with its own stand under the umbrella of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). The Mouzenidis Group has repeatedly expressed interest in opening up to new, lesser-known Greek tourist destinations, which are of interest to Russian tourists. “The islands of Thassos and Samothrace, and Philippi in Kavala, are of particular interest to potential Russian tourists. However, there are other destinations of outstanding natural beauty and cultural-religious wealth in the region that we want our customers to know about,” said Alexandros Tsantekidis, director of Mouzenidis Travel Moscow. ”If this summer’s Ellinair flights work well then the establishment of direct Ellinair routes will put the East Macedonia and Thrace region dynamically on the tourist map, resulting in growth and economic gains for the region,” Tsantekidis added. Ellinair is a Mouzenidis Group carrier. The group consists of 18 companies and is active in over 80 countries.
