Event News Competition: AIA Looking for Innovative Ideas to Transform Airport Environment by GTP editing team 12 April 2017 written by GTP editing team 12 April 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 27 In an aim to explore and encourage digital innovation and young entrepreneurship in the air-transport and tourism sector, Athens International Airport (AIA) has launched its second “Digital Gate” competition and invites the submission of new business ideas. Following the success of the first competition in 2015, the second round of “The Digital Gate” aims for young minds to develop their capabilities in the design of innovative services and contribute to the development of applications and new digital business activities, with potential implementation in a real airport environment. The competition “THE DIGITAL GATE: Airport Innovation Challenge – Transforming the Airport Environment” invites contestants to offer creative solutions to challenges faced by the airport community, such as: – Improvement of the travel process – Improvement of the travel experience – New, innovative services for the airport’s retail centre – Improvement of energy efficiency and of the environmental imprint, infrastructure, and processes – Develop the “smart airport” The competition includes three stages: Α: Submission of Business Idea: Until 05/05/2017 Β: Design of Business Modes and Rapid Prototype: May-July 2017 C: Demand Analysis and Materialization Support: August-December 2017 Groups that qualify to the final stage of the contest will be fully assisted in the development of their ideas in the framework of the Athens Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Economic University of Athens. All technological tools provided by the major IT&T companies supporting the program will be offered. Athens Airport will select the proposals it judges can be implemented in a real airport environment. The contest is held in cooperation with the Economic University of Athens and the scientific support of the Laboratory of Electronic Commerce and Business.
