Special traffic measures will be put into effect on Greece’s national highways as of Holy Thursday due to the Easter holidays.

As part of its road safety scheme, the Greek traffic police has announced it will increase patrols on the national road network, especially near major cities, airports, bus terminals, ports, railway stations and toll stations.

Trucks weighing over 1.5 tons will be banned from traveling on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Monday at predefined hours and on certain parts of the national road network.

The traffic police has warned that severe fines will be imposed in cases of irregular driving behavior.

Meanwhile, meteorologists have said that holidaymakers should expect Spring weather and normal temperatures during the Easter holiday.
