Surveys, Trends & Stats German Tourist Trust Recovering After Terror Strikes, Greece Leading Choice by GTP editing team 25 April 2017 written by GTP editing team 25 April 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 12 German tourists appear to be regaining their trust and planning ahead for their holidays with Greece being a top choice this year following a period of declining bookings due to terror strikes in Europe and political insecurity in Turkey. According to German tour operators, bookings from Germany for travel abroad this year may even reach the level of 2015, which was considered a record-breaking year. Greece is among the destinations of choice. “People’s willingness to travel abroad this year is great across all our markets despite the political and economic uncertainty,” said Peter Fankhauser, head of the Thomas Cook Group, adding that reservations have increased by 10 percent compared to last year. Other tour operators like TUI and DER Touristik agree. According to GfK’s consumer experts, by the end of March bookings had increased by 5 percent with last-minute reservations still open. In the meantime, Greece remains steadily at the top of German travelers’ choices with companies like TS, Jahn Reisen, Dertour, Meier’s Weltreisen and ADAC expressing satisfaction over bookings. German holidaymakers are still placing Spain at the top, as well as destinations in Germany and Egypt.
