Event News East Med Yacht Show 2017 Aims to Showcase Greece’s Tourism Strength by GTP editing team 26 April 2017 written by GTP editing team 26 April 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 13 Greek chartering companies, travel agents and shipbrokers as well as businesses providing services in marine tourism are ready for the opening of the 16th East Med Yacht Show on May 5 at the Zea Marina in Piraeus, with the participation of over 50 craft, including motor yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans and bareboats, as well as experts and yachting lovers at some 35 kiosks. The annual show aims to promote quality sea tourism, upgrade services offered by pleasure boats, improve Greece’s position on the global tourism market, establish Piraeus as a tourist destination, foster partnerships with foreign institutions and expand cooperation with other Greek stakeholders active in tourism. “The East Med Yacht Show, one of the most important international marine tourism exhibitions, is part of our effort to promote Piraeus as a tourist destination… this requires patience and synergies,” said Piraeus Mayor Yannis Moralis during a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the event. Moralis added that “tourism, the sea and shipping are main pillars for the development of Piraeus” and that thousands of visitors will have the chance while attending the show to learn more about the city’s sites, museums, and offerings. “Last year we took a risk and we relocated an already recognized international exhibition to another venue. Our decision turned out to be correct and Piraeus is now the permanent host of the East Med Yacht Show,” said Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association President Anthony Stelliatos. The 16th East Med Yacht Show will wrap up on May 7. The event will be held under the organization of the Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association (EPEST), the Hellenic Yacht Brokers Association (HYBA), the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA) and the Greek Professional Yacht Owners Bareboat Association (SITESAP).
