The Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Athens and Zhengzhou University in China recently signed an Erasmus+ bilateral agreement that includes the launch of a Master’s degree program in hospitality and tourism for Chinese students studying in Greece. Bilateral agreements are contractual agreements established between two Higher Education Institutions having Erasmus University Charter. Meeting of Athens TEI and Zhengzhou University delegates. Within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, a seven-member Greek delegation headed by TEI President Michalis Bratakos and Vice-President Periklis Lytras recently traveled to Henan Province in China and met with Zhengzhou University Rector Liu Jiongtian. According to the bilateral agreement, the Master’s degree program in hospitality and tourism will be available exclusively in English to Chinese students and classes will be held in Athens. Also, as of September 2017, the TEI of Athens and Zhengzhou University will jointly assign tourism-related PhD dissertations to be written by Greek and Chinese students, under the supervision of professors from Greece and China. The Greek delegation also discussed with representatives of the university’s Tourism Management Department and agreed on the creation of a PhD dissertation program and the establishment of an English-launguage department on hospitality and tourism within the university. Moreover, in Zhoushan, the TEI of Athens and the Zhejiang Ocean University signed a protocol of cooperation in the fields of shipping, fine arts, food and diet, electrical engineering, economy and administration and tourism. While in China, the Greek delegation also held meeting with representatives of the Fudan University, the Taiyuan University of Technology, the Capital Film & Television Alliance, the Beijing Balhengshengtlan Culture Communication and the Beijing Film Academy and explored ways to launch cooperations in education. The Erasmus+ program is an EU program for students within all academic fields who wish to carry out parts of their education at another European institution of higher education.
