Air Travel Austrian Airlines Upgrades Onboard Digital Services by GTP editing team 3 May 2017 written by GTP editing team 3 May 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 10 Austrian Airlines has launched Internet services onboard its aircraft, while it’s been working on a digital entertainment program soon to be available on mobile devices. According to an announcement, Internet access is now available in two aircraft. Moreover, all 31 Airbus aircraft of the Austrian Airlines fleet have been technically converted to enable Internet use and the service will be available within May. “We have thoroughly tested the new technology in recent months on five Airbus jets and 3,000 flights. Now, we are pleased to be able to offer Internet above the clouds”, said Austrian Airlines’ CCO, Andreas Otto. Passengers will be able to choose one of three different Internet rates on short-haul and medium-haul flights: FlyNet Message for 3 euros; FlyNet Surf for 7 euros and FlyNet Stream for 12 euros. Austrian Airlines is also working on a new, digital entertainment program, which will be available to passengers starting in summer 2017. Passengers with a FlyNet Surf or FlyNet Stream package will be able to use their mobile devices, to access an entertainment program consisting of films and series.
