Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Managing Director of Emirates Foundation, visits EAG’s stand at Think Science 2017 in Dubai. In an effort to engage youth in science and technology, Etihad Aviation Group (EAG) recently deployed pilots and engineers at the Think Science 2017, one of the most significant science events, which took place at the Dubai World Trade Center. This year’s event was inaugurated by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the Emirates Foundation, organizer of the event. Visitors of the EAG stand had the opportunity to get behind the controls of a flight simulator and feel the experience of flying an aircraft. “We hope that our presence at Think Science 2017 will stimulate interest and encourage discussion around science and technology and encourage the UAE’s youth to pursue careers in these dynamic fields, perhaps with Etihad Aviation Group,” said Captain Salah Al Farajalla, Etihad Airways’ Senior Vice President, Security and National Pilot Development. Etihad Airways’ engineers displayed a jet engine model, to outline what is involved in supporting the airline’s 120-plus fleet of aircraft. A video display also highlighted EAG’S role in developing biofuel, through the pioneering non-profit “Sustainable Bioenergy Research Consortium”, co-founded with Boeing and UOP Honeywell. From its base in Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways flies to (or has announced plans to serve) more than 110 passenger and cargo destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.
