The Navarino Environmental Observatory (ΝΕΟ), a joint initiative of the Stockholm University, the Academy of Athens and the developer of Costa Navarino, TEMES S.A., was recently presented as a successful case study, during a seminar at the Residence of the Ambassador of Sweden in Athens, Charlotte Wrangberg.

Titled, “The interaction of science and business”, the seminar focused on ways science can approach business activity and vice versa.

Kevin Noone, Professor at the Stockholm University, spoke of the connection between business and science and the emerging  cooperation opportunities. “It takes time, effort, resources and consistent extroversion, in order for both sides to establish trust and develop a common culture of positive interaction. However, the benefits of this interaction can be tremendously valuable and show what we can achieve by working together,” Professor Noone underlined.

Moreover, Karin Holmgren, Professor and Chairman of the NEO Steering Committee presented the “NEO Journey” as an example of how the academic community and the private sector can work together to achieve sustainable development, an announcement said. “The NEO research focuses on several sustainable development objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement,” noted Professor Holmgren.

Based at Costa Navarino in Messinia, southwestern Peloponnese, the NEO has been developed as a dynamic hub, where scientists from all over the world meet and conduct cutting-edge research, develop new tools and methods, while exchanging ideas and know-how.
