The relics of Saint Helen (“Equal to the Apostles”) and part of the True Cross she was said to have found in the Holy Land, arrived in Athens from Venice days before her feast day on May 21 on an Ellinair flight, Mouzenidis Group said, describing the service as a historic moment and a great honor.

“It is a tremendous honor for Ellinair to participate in such an important moment for Hellenism. We also call upon all Greek faithful to come to the Holy Temple of Agia Barbara (in Egaleo) to venerate the holy relics of Saint Helen, a person who is a reference point for all Christendom,” Ellinair’s president, Ioannis Mouzenidis, said.

The mother of Constantine the Great, St Helen is considered a very important figure in the history of Christianity. This is the first time the divine relics, which were received with state honors in Greece, amid politicians, clergy, military, diplomats and worshippers, have been removed from their permanent display in St Marks Basilica, Venice.
