Organized by the Athens municipality and the City of Athens Cultural, Sport & Youth Organization (OPANDA), “Zise ton Kipo Allios” aims to encourage Athenians and visitors to include culture, sports, wellness, creativity and education into their daily routines. “We are opening the National Garden to the citizens and to culture… through this program, the city’s parks and gardens become a meeting point for culture and sports, for the young and the old,” said Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis. Happenings and activities – all free of charge – include workshops, yoga, pilates, music, theater, tours, games for the kids, hidden treasures and much more with the aid of professional fitness instructors, educators and musicians. The National Garden is a 38-acre green oasis in the heart of Athens, located behind the Greek Parliament building across Zappeion with access via seven entrances. Besides hosting ancient columns, mosaics and other finds, it is home to some 519 species of trees, bushes and plants.
