Event News Digital Technology a Priority for Greek Tourism by GTP editing team 26 May 2017 written by GTP editing team 26 May 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 29 Innovation, new technologies, specialized education and collecting online feedback are at the center of the Greek tourism ministry’s digital policy, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura said during the 2nd Smart Cities – Digital Citizens conference held in Athens this week. Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura handed over the award of “Digital Excellence” to Attica Governor Rena Dourou, in the presence of Shipping and Island Policy Minister Panagiotis Kouroublis. Attica was the honored region at the conference. “Our target is strong growth in the coming years… with the aid of new technologies, we aim to ensure the best possible prospects for this growth across the industry and at all destinations and local economies,” Kountoura said addressing the event. The minister went on to underline that tapping into digital technology and implementing digital practices were of foremost importance for the development Greek tourism particularly now as it is dynamically expanding, adding that is was a priority for the ministry. The 2nd Smart Cities – Digital Citizens event explored the digital environment through public service to citizens via municipalities and regions. Issues covered included digital tools and technologies for smart cities, culture and tourism through digital technologies, urban design, utilization and development of utilities networks, employment and local governments.
