Set to depart at 10am from Thessaloniki and served by the 442-passenger-only Flying Cat 4, the route will connect Thessaloniki with Skiathos (3.5 hours), Skopelos and Alonissos (four hours). As of June 30, the Thessaloniki – Sporades ferry service will run daily through to September 10. According to Hellenic Seaways, the ticket will cost 59 euros, and if a return ticket is booked will come with a 30 percent discount (at 100 euros from 118 euros). Children, students and large families are entitled to a 50 percent discount. “Thessaloniki is only set to gain from this ferry connection,” said Spyros Pegas, deputy Thessaloniki mayor for Tourist Development and International Relations. Meanwhile, Hellenic Seaways sales manager, Aris Katsaitis, added that the ferry operator was still looking into ways to launch a ferry service connecting Thessaloniki with Izmir in Turkey.
