According to an announcement, the company is launching the offer for the second year – in cooperation with the islands’ local authorities and hotel associations – in an effort to reverse the negative climate concerning the islands of the North and East Aegean due to the refugee crisis. The offer is valid from June 15 until September 10 and refers to all categories of passenger tickets, including tickets for cars and motorcycles, provided that travellers present — to the company’s local collaborating agencies — confirmation of at least a 4-night stay in a hotel or lodge on one of the four islands. “This action aims to support the islands that welcomed and hosted massive numbers of refugees for a long time and to boost their tourism”, Blue Star Ferries said. “This substantial initiative once again demonstrates that passenger shipping is a barometer for the development of Greece’s islands, for the upgrade of the tourist product and the improvement of the quality of life of its inhabitants.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
