The Belgian show’s crew recently visited the island and filmed in various locations, upon the initiative of the Region of Crete. RTL Belgium is among the most popular TV channels in Belgium with 2,7 million viewers. The “iComme” show is broadcast daily during prime time – prior to the channel’s main news program – and attracts 365,800 viewers on average. According to the Region of Crete, the island is a popular destination to the Belgians, who are included in the top 10 of international travelers that arrive at the airports of Heraklion and Chania. While on Crete, the TV crew and the show’s host Jacques Vandenbiggelaar were informed on the numerous accommodation options and diverse services offered on the island and experienced the Cretan gastronomy and hospitality. “I’ve traveled nearly to all over the world. Crete is among the few places, I would gladly live in,” Vandenbiggelaar said. The “iComme” crew was received by Crete’s Vice Governor for Development Dimitris Michelogiannis and Executive Tourism Councilor Michalis Vamiedakis.
