Recruitments GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Tryfonopoulos Resigns for UNWTO Position by GTP editing team 8 June 2017 written by GTP editing team 8 June 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 7 Dimitris Tryfonopoulos has stepped down as Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) so he can enter a position at the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), an announcement by the Greek Tourism Ministry said on Thursday. Tryfonopoulos has been appointed as an adviser to the UNWTO. According to the announcement, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura accepted Tryfonopoulos’ resignation and thanked him for his very good cooperation. Tryfonopoulos was proposed by the minister herself for a position at the UNWTO. She wishes him every success in his new duties, the announcement read. Dimitris Tryfonopoulos was born in 1969, in Athens, Greece. He has 24 years of experience in the private sector, having served in senior and senior executive positions in Greek as well as in multinational companies, mostly, in Banking and Insurance. He was appointed as the General Secretary of the GNTO in November 2015. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Louisville Kentucky, USA, and speaks English and French.
