Via yougoculture.com, interested parties can gain access to the special characteristics of regions such as Attica and the Peloponnese, and gain valuable insight into Greek culture as it is manifested in the local way of life through audio-visual material in English. “We have created a digital virtual tour platform that reflects the culture of the Greeks in the southeastern Mediterranean from antiquity to the present day. …it aims to act as a gateway for those interested in [Greece’s] cultural heritage and in the cultural characteristics of single destinations,” said professor Panagiotis Petrakis. The project is being carried out by the Athens University E-learning department with the support of act4Greece – National Bank of Greece’s crowdfunding program – and includes virtual tours of destinations and wider geographic regions based on archaeological sites and monuments or points of cultural interest.
