AEGEAN Once Again Named ‘Best Regional Airline in Europe’ by Skytrax

AEGEAN was honored for the seventh consecutive year as the “Best Regional Airline in Europe” at the 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards held during the recent Paris Air Show at the Musee de l’Air et de l’ Espace. It is also the eighth time the airline receives the distinction in the last nine years.

“For the seventh year in a row, through an international institution, we proved that a Greek company can stand out among 325 airlines for its quality and efficiency,” said AEGEAN CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis. “This distinction is more valuable to us, as it comes directly from the passengers, who trust the airline daily,” he added.

Referred to as the “Oscars of the aviation industry”, the World Airline Awards are based on a worldwide survey, allowing travelers to make their own choice. Approximately 19.87 million eligible survey entries were counted in the final results, and 105 nationalities participated in the survey from August 2016 to May 2017. The survey covered over 325 airlines, from largest international airlines to smaller domestic carriers.

Congratulating AEGEAN, Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said the company “continues to be one of the favorite airlines of the World Airlines Awards”. He also underlined that the company continues to rank high due to the services offered by its staff, “which are supported by AEGEAN’s strong product”.

Aegean and Olympic Air carried 12.5 million passengers in 2016. The 2017 schedule covers a network of 145 destinations in 40 countries.
