The Creta Maris Beach Resort in Hersonissos, Crete, recently celebrated the Blue Flag eco-label award it won for 2017 for its Kastri beach with an official flag-raising event. Honored with the eco-label for the fourth year in a row, Creta Maris’ Kastri beach was among those in Greece that were singled out for water quality, environmental protection and awareness, well-maintained coast and safety.

The Blue Flag-raising event was attended by the local kindergarten “Junior Academy”. Prior to the event, the students were given a tour in the resort’s organic farm and were introduced to the composters and Creta Maris’ Recycling Point “Planet’s breath”. The children were then informed on how they can do their part and keep the coast and the sea clean.

Creta Maris flag-raising event was also attended by hotel guests; the head of the regional branch of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Aristides Stratakis; the chief of the Hersonissos Port Authority, Athanasia Perisinaki; the director of Hersonissos Fire Department, Manolis Κoukakis; and the doctor of the Cretan Medicare Center, Diamantakis Thanasis.

Creta Maris Beach Resort is part of the Metaxas’ Group of Companies and has been operating since 1975. It includes 680 rooms, suites and bungalows, six restaurants, seven bars, seven swimming pools, a gym, a hammam spa, the Asterias Children’s Club and spacious facilities for outdoor and indoor activities.
