İlker Aycı. Turkish Airlines, for the ninth consecutive year was awarded as the “Best Airline in Southern Europe” at the 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards, in a ceremony held during the recent Paris Air Show. The airline additionally won three distinctions for its services. More specifically, the “Turkish Airlines Lounge Istanbul”, which offers a wide range of activities and services, earned the company the top spot in the “World’s Best Business Class Lounge” category. Turkish Airlines was also awarded in the category “Best Business Class Lounge Dining” for its excellent catering services offered to its business class passengers at its lounge. Maintaining the same momentum in 2013, 2014, and 2016, Turkish Airlines’ inflight catering service continued to be recognized as the “Best Business Class Onboard Catering”. “Being deemed worthy of these awards is a hallmark of our outstanding effort that we show in all spheres of aviation and the steady growth that we perform in this direction,” said Turkish Airline’s chairman of the board and the executive committee M. İlker Aycı. “Maintaining its leading position in its region, Turkish Airlines continues to be rewarded by passengers from all over the world,” he added. Turkish Airlines is flying to 299 destinations worldwide (250 international and 49 domestic) with a fleet of 335 aircraft (passenger and cargo). Skytrax evaluates traveler experiences across different airport service and product key performance indicators. Following this evaluation process it awards the most successful organizations with its World Airline Awards, also known as “the Oscars of the aviation industry”.
