From her new role, ACVB’s head will work together with the new chapter chair for the Mediterranean region, Hicran Ozbuk, General Director of the Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau (ICVB). The main objective of the ICCA Chapter includes raising the profile of the region as one of the top meeting destinations and creating cooperation networks among members in order to boost congress tourism. ICCA represents the main specialists in organising, transporting, and accommodating international meetings and events, and comprises over 1,000 member companies and organisations in almost 100 countries worldwide. ICCA specialises in the international association meetings sector and offers unrivalled data, communication channels, and business development opportunities. ACVB aims to make the capital of Greece the destination of choice for conventions, conferences, meetings and incentives as well as the perfect all year-around city break traveler’ choice. In recent years, ACVB has been investing in actions that strengthen existing tourism infrastructure and promote a unified and competitive identity for Athens in the international market. During 2014 and 2015 the Greek capital climbed 23 positions in the rankings of the most popular destinations for conferences, and remained in the 25th place for 2016.
