Photo source: ESEERetailers in Greece expect shopping gains during this summer sales season due to the increase in tourism bookings, an announcement by the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) said on Tuesday. The confederation said that turnover could grow by up to 5 percent.

The summer sales season in Greece will begin on Monday, July 10 and run until Thursday, August 31. The only Sunday of the sales season that shops are allowed to open (voluntarily) is on July 16.

ESEE President Vassilis Korkides is urging consumers to take advantage of the many bargains that will be available during this sales season.

Last year, shops in Greece saw a decline of 9.7 percent in turnover.
