Following a press trip to Karpathos, Italian bloggers Alessandro Bertini and Sara Dutto of “Idee di Viaggio-Girovagate” said they “fell in love” with the Dodecanese island.

The bloggers in late June spent a week on the island, following an invitation by the Karpathos Municipality’s Tourism and Development Committee, which organized the trip in collaboration with tourism consulting company Re:Make.

Travel editor Alessandro Bertini, also vice president of the National Union of Italian Bloggers, and experienced photographer Sara Dutto had the opportunity to tour the island’s traditional settlements and stunning beaches, taste the local cuisine and experience the Greek hospitality.

The “Idee di Viaggio-Girovagate” blog (www.girovagate.com) features destinations around the world and has a strong presence in social media with 1,800,000 page views, 650,000 visitors and more than 36,000 followers on facebook, youtube and instagram, the municipality said in an announcement.

Karpathos’ local authorities have been promoting the island to the Italian market by organizing press trips, in collaboration with international organizations, according to Mihalis Lytos, president of the Karpathos Municipality’s Tourism Development Committee.

The Italian bloggers have uploaded numerous photographs of their trip in social media, while “Idee di Viaggio-Girovagate” during the next weeks will publish an extensive feature on Karpathos.
