More specifically, children will have the opportunity to enter the fascinating world of archaeology and discover ancient Greek history. Accompanied by trained specialists, they will learn how to unearth hidden artifacts, the way professional archaeologists do. They will also discover the secrets of ancient writing and code-breaking, while they will be able to create their very own ancient Linear B Clay tablet and take it home. The region of Messinia is the ideal place for children to learn more on the ancient world, Costa Navarino said in an announcement. The area’s history spans over 4,500 years and includes the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ancient Olympia, Mycenaean palaces, temples of the classical period, Byzantine churches and medieval castles, as well as the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, one of the most renowned museums in Greece. Costa Navarino Educates “Young Gardeners” The resort’s gardening program will also enable children to participate in an exciting journey and discover the Messinian flora. In an especially designed garden, “young gardeners” will learn how to plant their own seeds, collect seasonal fruits, herbs and vegetables and, together with the Chef, create their own dishes on the spot. Both activities are part Costa Navarino’s long standing commitment to environmental responsibility and education, the resort said. Partnering with the “Captain Vassilis & Karmen Konstantakopoulos” Foundation, Costa Navarino supports local farmers to revive old and forgotten flavors and varieties for future generations to enjoy. The authentic gourmet products, “Navarino Icons”, enables guests to take a flavor of Greece back home to use in their own recipes. The Westin suite, Costa Navarino One of two five-star luxury hotels at the destination, The Westin Resort Costa Navarino features family suites in a beautiful seaside location, offering spectacular views across the Ionian Sea.
