Trade Associations - Gov Tourism Workers in Greece Announce 24-hour Strike on July 20 by GTP editing team 19 July 2017 written by GTP editing team 19 July 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 Tourists in Greece may face disruptions in hospitality services on Thursday, July 20, as the Panhellenic Federation of Catering and Tourist Industry Employees has announced a 24-hour strike throughout Greece. In an announcement, the federation said that Greece’s constant record of tourist arrivals and revenue in the country has had no positive impact on industrial relations in the sector. The federation is demanding better working terms and conditions, claiming that relations between employers and employees have been disrupted as a new labor model keeps salaries low and limits social security rights. On the day of the 24-hour strike, the federation is holding a gathering at Klathmonos Square in central Athens at 10 am. The Panhellenic Federation of Catering and Tourist Industry Employees includes waiters, hotel staff and chefs.
