Awards ATRS 2017: Athens Airport Honored for Efficiency and Cost Competitiveness by GTP editing team 21 July 2017 written by GTP editing team 21 July 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 6 Photo Source: Athens International Airport The Athens International Airport (AIA) was recently honored for its efficiency and cost competitiveness in the ATRS 2017 Global Airport Performance Benchmarking Task Force report, released by the US-based Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. AIA once more topped the list of efficiency performers in 2017, among airports in Europe that serve 10-25 million passengers per year. The airport had again received the award in 2016, during the ATRS World Conference, which was held on Rhodes in the Dodecanese The Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam was named top performer among European airports serving over 40 million passengers per year. The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) for the 14th year was distinguished as the most efficient airport in the world by ATRS. AIA was also named top cost competitor among airports in Europe serving 10-25 million passengers per year. The ATRS Global Airport Benchmarking Report measures and compares the performance of several important aspects of airport operations: Productivity and efficiency, unit costs and cost competitiveness, financial results and airport charges. The 2017 report includes 206 airports and 24 airport groups of various sizes and ownership forms in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. The report was presented during the 2017 ATRS World Conference recently held in Antwerp, Belgium.
