Citing an interview to Documento, ANA reports Kountoura as saying that “most of the country’s destinations are expecting to be 90-100 percent booked in the coming months, with the most popular amongst these already fully reserved”. “The year 2017 began spectacularly, reflecting the very important work we have done to create the conditions behind the record-breaking tourist figures for a third consecutive year, resulting in a 20-70 percent rise in pre-bookings from all foreign markets at the beginning of the year, a steep increase in bookings and overnight stays and a double-digit growth in the number of arrivals at airports across the country”. The minister went on to add that she expects tourism receipts to follow suit and “record a significant rise”. Meanwhile, according to Bank of Greece data released on Monday, travel receipts for the month of May rose by 1.7 percent year-on-year attributed to a 2.4 percent increase in inbound traveler flows.
