Sea Tourism No Sail for Rafina Ferries Due to Greek Seamen’s Strike by GTP editing team 25 July 2017 written by GTP editing team 25 July 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 The Panhellenic Sailor Association (PENEN) announced on Tuesday, a series of 24-hour “warning” strikes which will keep ferries docked at the port of Rafina, eastern coast of Attica. The union says it is protesting against certain ferry operators who are demanding overtime work without relevant compensation. PENEN has released a program of planned strike action which may affect travelers departing from the port of Rafina. – Tera Jet – August 1: starting at 6am and ending on August 2 at 6am. – Aikaterini P – August 2: starting at 6am and ending the next day at 6am. – Super Runner – August 3: beginning at 6am and ending the next day at 6am. The union has warned that if demands are not met, it will continue with 24-hour strikes on all ferries linking Rafina with the Cyclades islands as of August 4 at 5am. The Greek Travel Pages (GTP) advises holidaymakers to contact the Rafina port authority or ferry operators ahead of planned travel from the port. Meanwhile, Rafina-Pikermi Mayor Evangelos Bournous met with Shipping Minister Panagiotis Kouroublis earlier on Tuesday to discuss problems that have resulted from increased traffic out of the port.
