The graphic design poster exhibition — entitled “100 Posters for Crete” — was organized by the Omen Art Shop Gallery, the Region of Crete, the Regional Unit of Chania, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania and the Municipality of Chania to raise funds for charity. The exhibition came to life following the invitation to 100 graphic designers to each design a poster about Crete, without any specific concept, subject or technique restrictions. The graphic designers that signed up for the exhibition covered a wide range of subjects regarding Crete through their work. “A favourite destination of Greece was selected at the peak of the tourism season so that as many people possible will attend the exhibition and then carry their impressions all over the world,” said Greek graphic designer Maria Papaefstathiou from Graphic Art News, who’s poster is displayed in the exhibition. The aim of the “100 Posters for Crete” exhibition is to support the city’s two charity organisations — ELEPAP, which offers rehabilitation for disabled children and Orizontas, which offers support to individuals with cancer and neoplastic diseases. The 35x50cm size posters are for sale each at a very low price. The exhibition also aims to feature the art of the Greek graphic design in the best way possible. The exhibition will run until August 18 and is open to public daily from 10am to 5pm and from 7pm to 10pm. Entrance is free.
