SEPE Imposes Fines Worth €1.87m on Greek Tourism Businesses

Following the announcement of targeted inspections to businesses active in the Greek tourism sector, Greece’s Labor Inspection Body (SEPE) recently imposed hefty fines on establishments located on islands and the mainland.

During inspections that took place from the beginning of the tourist season to July 15th, SEPE conducted 1,633 checks and discovered that 275 business were violating the labor law and imposed fines worth 1,870,965.43 million euros.

“In order to protect the rights of employees in the tourism industry, SEPE will continue to carry out targeted inspections throughout the tourism season,” SEPE said in an announcement

“The fight against undeclared employment is a key priority of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Social Solidarity and aims to secure decent working conditions. We remind that employees can submit complaints by name or anonymously about violations of the labor law by calling 15512 or visiting local labor inspectorates.”
